Can you tell where you got the inspiration for this book?
>> Answer: I’ve always loved the heist genre, especially with an ensemble of characters and I thought it would be a good choice for my first book, gave me a lot of story options.>> - Is the story or any part of it inspired from your or a friend's life?
>> Answer: not necessarily the story but the characters are lifted from my friends, it helped make them more rounded and charming.
>> -Which character from your book do you relate yourself to most?
>> Answer: Edie is the only character not based on one of my friends and whilst she has a few of my idiosyncrasies she isn’t autobiographical.
>> - When was the first time you realised you wanted to be an author? Is this the first book you started working on or are there previous unfinished or unpublished stories too?
>> Answer: I’ve always loved the idea of writing something like a book, I’ve dabbled in journalism in the past and it’s something I really enjoy. There are so many first chapters on my laptop! So many unfinished stories, this was the first one I managed to finish so far. It was the only silver lining to lockdown in the UK this summer.
>> -What was the most difficult thing you faced writing this book?
>> Answer: the most difficult bit was editing, that was the hardest part of the process because even an amazing line feels average after 30+ reads.
>> -When did you start writing The red flag? How long did the whole process take?
>> Answer: From start to finish it could have been around a year, it started as just a few chapters on my phone and then when lockdown struck it gave me the eight hours a day to commit to the process
>> -Do you like reading and writing different genres? for example do you like reading rom com and writing fantasy or same?
>> answer: I love reading dark thrillers, and yet I’m not sure I could write one, maybe that’s why I like them so much because I can admire the skill it would take to write it.
>> -What's your favorite scene from the book?(without spoilers;))
>> answer: without spoilers makes it difficult, I would probably pick an early scene then, maybe the night out the gang have, that was a lot of fun to write as I based a lot of it on my friends outlandish behaviour ha ha!
>> -Lastly Is there any book you're working on rn? Can you tell a little about it?
Answer: I’ve taken a break from writing At the moment, I think everyone can agree 2020 was a struggle and it hit us all hard. That being said I have started writing a book that has influences of Chuck Palahniuk and Bret Easton Ellis, a bit gritty with a splash of humour. It’s in the very early stages so I’ll keep the story a secret until it’s concrete but I’m very excited about it!
